History comes alive at USPB with the installation of the old gate.
This gate once served as the original main entrance from the 1st Brandenburgerweg, marking an important point of arrival for many years. Although the current main entrance has long been located on Antonie van Leeuwenhoeklaan, the gate has now been restored and placed on the premises as part of a historical walking route.
This initiative, developed by RIVM, invites all employees at USPB to take a moment to reflect on the rich and illustrious past of the site. The historical route highlights key locations and stories that have shaped USPB over the years, offering a unique opportunity to connect with its heritage while enjoying the outdoor environment.
The installation of the gate is also part of RIVM’s farewell to the site where it has carried out its work since 1953. As RIVM prepares to move on, this historical route serves as a tribute to the decades of scientific and public health contributions made on this ground.
