From Cell to Society

At Utrecht Science Park Bilthoven, we turn scientific discovery into real-world health impact. Guided by the vision 'From Cell to Society,' the park is a unique hub where biomanufacturing, life sciences, and medtech come together to improve health on a global scale.

Building on decades of expertise in vaccine development, biological production, and public health, Utrecht Science Park Bilthoven connects research, technology, and manufacturing in one integrated environment. Here, innovation moves beyond the lab - transforming ideas into vaccines, diagnostics, and technologies that make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

Our focus areas include:

  • Biomanufacturing Excellence - Advancing the full chain from cell-line development to large-scale production of biologicals.
  • Medtech and Diagnostics - Supporting the development and validation of medical technologies that enhance prevention, detection, and treatment.
  • Global Health Impact - Strengthening preparedness and access to essential health innovations worldwide.

With world-class facilities, strong institutional partnerships, and a shared commitment to public health, Utrecht Science Park Bilthoven embodies the journey from cell to society where every discovery contributes to a healthier future for all.

Our history

In 2013, site transitioned from public to private ownership, marking a new chapter in its development. In 2016, it was acquired by Poonawalla Science Park B.V., part of the Indian Poonawalla Group.

Through a strategic collaboration with Utrecht Science Park, the site was renamed Utrecht Science Park Bilthoven in 2017, marking a new chapter in its development as a hub for life sciences and biotechnology.

Our tenants

USPB is home to both long-standing organizations and emerging innovators. For example, Bilthoven Biologicals and Intravacc - both formerly part of RIVM and privatized in 2009 and 2024 respectively - have been part of the campus from the very beginning.

Our newest tenant, Kuros bioscienses, joined us in 2024, adding fresh momentum to our growing life sciences community.
